Solid Biblical Truth Never Changes or Grows Old

“If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee. Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with Me in white; for they are worthy.” [Rev 3, 4.] Study these statements. Teach the church that the enemy will bring before them every phase of deception. Those who have not held fast with the grip of faith to the experience given them by God in the past will fail to watch now. They are in danger of listening to and heeding the sophistries of Satan.Those who have admitted the enemy to their companionship need to be watchful and repent, lest in the day of God they be found with the workers of evil, who call falsehood truth.”

“Come and see” John 1:46

“Christ had bidden His people watch for the signs of His advent and rejoice as they should behold the tokens of their coming King. “When these things begin to come to pass,” He said, “then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.” He pointed His followers to the budding trees of spring, and said: “When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand. So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand.” Luke 21:28, 30, 31.

“In the Scriptures are presented truths that relate especially to our own time. To the period [close of probation] just prior to the appearing of the Son of man [2nd Coming], the prophecies of Scripture point, and here their warnings and threatenings pre-eminently [“above all”] apply. The prophetic periods of Daniel [Dan 11:45-12:1; last verse of prophecy in Chapter 11 to be fulfilled], extending to the very eve of the great consummation [Dan 12:2-3; 2nd Coming], throw a flood of light upon events then to transpire. The book of Revelation is also replete with warning and instruction for the last generation [Rev 14:6-12; 18]. The beloved John, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, portrays the fearful and thrilling scenes connected with the close of earth’s history, and presents the duties and dangers of God’s people. Endorsement on Uriah Smith’s Book, Daniel and the Revelation

The “King of the North” (Turkey) in Daniel 11:45 is connected to the close of probation. The Lord desires that we study and understand this prophecy so we can proclaim the 3 angel’s messages to the world and so that we will be ready when the time of trouble comes upon this earth.

“The events connected with the close of probation [Dan 11:45] and the work of preparation for the time of trouble [Dan 12:1], are clearly presented. But multitudes have no more understanding of these important truths than if they had never been revealed. Satan watches to catch away every impression that would make them wise unto salvation, and the time of trouble [Dan 12:1] will find them unready.” 
{RH June 7, 1906, par. 3} [emphasis supplied]

During the proclamation of the 3 angel’s messages (Rev 14) under the 4th angel (Rev 18):

“I saw another mighty angel [4^th angel- Rev 18:1-2] commissioned to descend to earth, and unite his voice with the third angel, and give power and force to his message. Great power and glory were imparted to the angel, and as he descended, the earth was lightened with his glory. The light which went before and followed after this angel, penetrated every where, as he cried mightily, with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. The message of the fall of Babylon, as given by the second angel [of Rev 14 :8], is again given, with the addition of the corruptions which have been entering the churches since 1844. The work of this angel comes in at the right time, and joins in the last great work of the third angel’s message, as it swells into a loud cry.”

Apostate protestant Biblical errors are brought to view under the 3rd angel’s message, including false Sunday worship

“What is it that gives its kingdom to this power? Protestantism, a power which while professing to have the temper and spirit of a lamb (USA- Rev 13:15), and to be allied to heaven, speaks with the voice of a dragon (through legislative laws that go against the freedom of conscience- Rev 13:17). It is moved by a power from beneath. {Lt232-1899.22}
“And after these things,” John writes, “I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory. And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and the cage of every unclean and hateful bird. For all nations have drunk of the wine of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies. And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.” [Revelation 18:1-4.] This is the message Satan would have silenced.”

Babylon represents all the fallen professed PROTESTANT “Christian” churches of the world.

“In amazement they hear the testimony that Babylon is the church, fallen because of her errors and sins, because of her rejection of the truth sent to her from heaven.”
{The Great Controversy, p. 606.} 

“Babylon symbolizes the fallen churches, and her fall denotes apostasy from God.”
{Lt183-1902.7}

Babylon represents all the fallen professed PROTESTANT “Christian” churches of the world.

The proclamation of the 3 angel’s messages above also INCLUDES the proclamation of Daniel 11:45: that Turkey will invade and take over Jerusalem and when this prophecy takes place, PROBATION (opportunity for salvation) will be in the process of closing (Dan 12:1) upon the entire human race. The door of mercy is about to forever shut!! Many will be in the valley of decision to stand on God’s side and keep His true 7th day Sabbath (Saturday) or keep the mandated false Sunday “Sabbath” created by man.

The Correct Understanding of the King of the North is a Salvational Issue.

The time… (close of probation) “it is nigh, even at the doors.” Mk 13:29

When Turkey invades Jerusalem (Dan 11:45), we know probation will soon close (Dan 12:1) as Jesus will now be “at the doors” of the sanctuary, ready to lay down the censer and put on his garments of vengence in the 7 last plagues; the first 5 plagues delivered by radical Islam. The plagues last for about a year (Rev 18:8), then Jesus will return in the clouds with His angelic host to redeem the saved and destroy the wicked (2Thess 2:8).

MARK 13

“Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When her branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is near: So ye in like manner, when ye shall see these things come to pass, know that it is nigh, [even] at the doors. Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall not pass, till all these things be done.” Mark 13:28-30

What time is here referred to above in Mark 13:28-30?

According to Spirit of Prophecy below, we can clearly see that this time in Mark 13 is referring to the close of probation, NOT TO THE 2ND COMING! (This is the same language employed in Matthew 24: 32-42) Thus, the importance of not missing the time of your visitation and being truly converted BEFORE the close of probation since after that time, it matters no longer since no message of mercy will be heard as the door (like in Naoh’s day) for salvation will be forever closed!:

“Jesus has left us word: “Watch (Dan 11:45; when Turkey invades and occupies Jerusalem) ye therefore: for ye know not when the Master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: lest coming suddenly (close of probation) He find you sleeping. And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.” (Mark 13:34-36)  We are waiting and watching for the return of the Master, who is to bring the morning, lest coming suddenly He find us sleeping. What time is here referred to? Not to the revelation of Christ in the clouds of heaven to find a people asleep (2^nd Coming). No; but to His return from His ministration in the most holy place of the heavenly sanctuary, when He lays off His priestly attire and clothes Himself with garments of vengeance, (Dan 12:1 close of probation) and when the mandate goes forth: “He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still; and he that is holy, let him be holy still.”  (Rev 22:11)  {2T 190.1}
“When Jesus ceases to plead (close of probation) for man, the cases of all are forever decided. This is the time of reckoning with His servants. To those who have neglected the preparation of purity and holiness, which fits them to be waiting ones to welcome their Lord, the sun sets in gloom and darkness, and rises not again. Probation closes; Christ’s intercessions cease in heaven. This time (close of probation), finally comes suddenly upon all, and those who have neglected to purify their souls by obeying the truth are found sleeping. They became weary of waiting and watching; they became indifferent in regard to the coming (close of probation) of their Master. They longed not for His appearing, and thought there was no need of such continued, persevering watching. They had been disappointed in their expectations and might be again. They concluded that there was time enough yet to arouse. They would be sure not to lose the opportunity of securing an earthly treasure. It would be safe to get all of this world they could. And in securing this object, they lost all anxiety and interest in the appearing (close of probation) of the Master. They became indifferent and careless, as though His coming (close of probation) were yet in the distance. But while their interest was buried up in their worldly gains, the work closed (close of probation) in the heavenly sanctuary, and they were unprepared.”  {2T 191.1}

Matthew 24: 29-42

“The twenty-fourth chapter of Matthew is presented to me again and again as something that is to be brought to the attention of all. We are today living in the time when the predictions of this chapter are fulfilling. Let our ministers and teachers explain these prophecies to those whom they instruct. Let them leave out of their discourses matters of minor consequence, and present the truths that will decide the destiny of souls“.

The Close of Probation will decide the destiny of souls!!

First, please note that Matthew 24:30 & 31 describes the 2nd coming, BUT in verse 32, the subject is changed to the illustration of the parable of the fig tree which is also referenced in Mark 13 above from 2 Testimonies. First, verses 29-31:

Matt 24:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days [After the 1260 years of papal persecution (538- 1798) that ended earlier and prior to the pope being officially taken captive in 1798 by France] shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light [Rev 6:12- Dark Day of May 19, 1780], and the stars shall fall from heaven [Rev 6:13- Meteor Shower of Nov. 13, 1833], and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

Matt 24:30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven [2nd Coming of Christ]: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory [2nd Coming of Christ].

Matt 24:31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

Notice, after describing 2nd Coming in verses 30 & 31 above, Christ changes subject in verse 32, reverting back to events to take place PRIOR to the 2nd Coming:

Matt 24:34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass [a Biblical generation is 40 years; Islam (Turkey) first came on the scene at 911, 20 years ago! We will live to see this event!], till all these things be fulfilled.

Matt 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

Matt 24:36 But of that day and hour knoweth no [man], [G1492 “no man maketh known”- 1Cor 2:2. We are not given a specific DATE or TIME of this event since “time prophecies” are no longer (Rev 10:6), rather, we are given the EVENT of Islam] no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

Matt 24:37 But as the days of Noe [were], so shall also the coming [coming to judgment; the close of probation] of the Son of man be. [How did the close of probation proceed in the days of Noah? What is interesting to note here is that from the time that the ark door closed (probation closed) until the time of the execution of the judgment (flood) lasted for 7 days. Seven is representative of judgment/2520. See Judgment/ 2520 page. During this interim of time, the antediluvians were not aware that probation had closed until the flood came!)

“In Noah’s day the inhabitants of the old world laughed to scorn what they termed the superstitious fears and forebodings of the preacher of righteousness. He was denounced as a visionary character, a fanatic, an alarmist. “As it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.” Men will reject the solemn message of warning in our day, as they did in Noah’s time. They will refer to those false teachers who have predicted the event and set the definite time, and will say that they have no more faith in our warning than in theirs. This is the attitude of the world today. Unbelief is widespread, and the preaching of Christ’s coming is mocked at and derided. This makes it all the more essential that those who believe present truth should show their faith by their works. They should be sanctified through the truth which they profess to believe; for they are a savor of life unto life or of death unto death.” {4T 308.2}

A Salvational Prophecy

Matt 24:38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, [until the day Christ leaves the Most Holy Place and puts on His garments of vengeance to execute the judgment, the cares of life will go on as usual.]

Matt 24:39 And knew not until the flood came [like the antediluvians, the world will NOT know that probation HAS closed UNTIL the plagues fall!], and took [TAKEN = LOST see verses 40 & 41] them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son [coming to judgment/ close of probation] of man be. [This will also happen in our day. Those who were not following and carefully tracing down the lines of prophecy will not recognize that probation HAS closed UNTIL the 7 last plagues are poured out, when it is TOO LATE!!]

Matt 24:40 Then shall two [only 2 groups of people- WHEAT & TARES] be in the field; the one shall be taken [wicked lost], and the other left [righteous saved].

Matt 24:41 Two [women shall be] grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

Matt 24:42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come [to judgment/ close of probation].

Matt 24:43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. [we are in the 3rd watch-PH098 15.2]

Matt 24:44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh [all will be surprised when EVENT transpires- 2T 191.2].

Matt 24:45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?

Matt 24:46 Blessed [is] that servant, whom his lord when he cometh [to judgment/ close of probation] shall find so doing [The Faithful are watching and waiting for the events & preparing their hearts, as they were commanded to do by the Word of God].

Matt 24:47 Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.

Matt 24:48 But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming [This dangerous practice of time setting is done by many of which we have been warned and counseled against];

Matt 24:49 And shall begin to smite [ridicule/ find fault with those giving this message] [his] fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;

Matt 24:50 The lord of that servant shall come in a day [close of probation] when he looketh not for [him], and in an hour that he is not aware of [just like in the days of Noah; they knew not – that probation HAD closed- until the flood came upon them (7 plagues in our day) when it was too late as the door of mercy (probation) had closed prior to judgment falling!],

Matt 24:51 And shall cut him asunder, and appoint [him] his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

According to Matthew 24:36-51 above:

“That a wrong use is often made of the text [Matthew 24:36] is evident from the context. One question of the disciples was concerning the sign of Christ’s coming and of the end of the world. This question Jesus answered. In verse 29 he gave signs (signs in sun, moon and stars for the pioneers and also a sign for our day in the parable of fig tree in verse 32: Locusts = Islam, Amos 7:1), and said, “When ye shall see all these things, know that it (close of probation) is near, even at the doors.” (Doors of the sanctuary- Christ is soon to step out of MHP & close the door of mercy!) Verse 33. One saying of the Saviour must not be made to destroy another. Though no man knoweth the day nor the hour (close of probation), we are instructed and required [for it is in the imperative] to know when it (close of probation) is near, even at the doors. And we are further taught that it will be as fatal to us to disregard his warning, and refuse or neglect to know, (the EVENT leading up to the close of probation) as it was for those who lived in the days of Noah not to know when the flood (their close of probation!) was coming. Verses 37-39. And verses 44-51 show in what light Christ, when He comes (close of probation), will regard and reward those whom he finds watching and teaching his coming, (EVENT leading up to the close of probation), and those denying it. “Blessed are those servants, whom the Lord when he cometh shall find watching.” Luke 12:37.

Amos

Revelation
3:14 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;
3:15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
3:17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
3:18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and [that] the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
3:19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

“It is now that we must keep ourselves and our children unspotted from the world. It is now that we must wash our robes of character and make them white in the blood of the Lamb. It is now that we must overcome pride, passion, and spiritual slothfulness. It is now that we must awake and make determined effort for symmetry of character. “Today if ye will hear His voice, harden not your hearts.” We are in a most trying position, waiting, watching for our Lord’s appearing (close of probation). The world is in darkness. “But ye, brethren,” says Paul, “are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.” It is ever God’s purpose to bring light out of darkness, joy out of sorrow, and rest out of weariness for the waiting, longing soul. 

What are you doing, brethren, in the great work of preparation? Those who are uniting with the world are receiving the worldly mold and preparing for the mark of the beast. Those who are distrustful of self, who are humbling themselves before God and purifying their souls by obeying the truth these are receiving the heavenly mold and preparing for the seal of God in their foreheads. When the decree goes forth (Rev 22:11- close of probation) and the stamp is impressed, their character will remain pure and spotless for eternity. 

     Now is the time to prepare. The seal of God will never be placed upon the forehead of an impure man or woman. It will never be placed upon the forehead of the ambitious, world-loving man or woman. It will never be placed upon the forehead of men or women of false tongues or deceitful hearts. All who receive the seal must be without spot before God–candidates for heaven. Go forward, my brethren and sisters. I can only write briefly upon these points at this time, merely calling your attention to the necessity of preparation. Search the Scriptures for yourselves, that you may understand the fearful solemnity of the present hour.”

The Time of Our Visitation

“Also her hired men are in the midst of her like fatted bullocks; for they also are turned back, and are fled away together: they did not stand, because the day of their calamity was come upon them, and the time of their visitation.” Jeremiah 46:21

Parable of Ten Virgins

“If left to the care of those who, while professing allegiance to God, know not the time of their visitation (close of probation- Matt 24/ Mark 13), the light of the candle (see Rev18:23), or church, will go out in darkness. He who is a true watchman in this time of peril will work with tireless vigilance. He will keep faithfully the courts of the Lord’s house.”

The Virgins

“Joel 1:8 Lament like a virgin girded with sackcloth for the husband of her youth.

The class represented by the foolish virgins are not hypocrites. They have a regard for the truth, they have advocated the truth, they are attracted to those who believe the truth; but they have not yielded themselves to the Holy Spirit’s working. They have not fallen upon the Rock, Christ Jesus, and permitted their old nature to be broken up. This class are represented also by the stony-ground hearers. They receive the word with readiness, but they fail of assimilating its principles. Its influence is not abiding. The Spirit works upon man’s heart, according to his desire and consent implanting in him a new nature; but the class represented by the foolish virgins have been content with a superficial work. They do not know God. They have not studied His character; they have not held communion with Him; therefore they do not know how to trust, how to look and live. Their service to God degenerates into a form. “They come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as My people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them; for with their mouth they show much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness.” Ezekiel 33:31. The apostle Paul points out that this will be the special characteristic of those who live just before Christ’s second coming. He says, “In the last days perilous times shall come: for men shall be lovers of their own selves; . . . lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof.” 2 Timothy 3:1-5. {COL 411.1}
This is the class that in time of peril are found crying, Peace and safety. They lull their hearts into security, and dream not of danger. When startled from their lethargy, they discern their destitution, and entreat others to supply their lack; but in spiritual things no man can make up another’s deficiency. The grace of God has been freely offered to every soul. The message of the gospel has been heralded, “Let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.” Revelation 22:17. But character is not transferable. No man can believe for another. No man can receive the Spirit for another. No man can impart to another the character which is the fruit of the Spirit’s working. “Though Noah, Daniel, and Job were in it [the land], as I live, saith the Lord God, they shall deliver neither son nor daughter; they shall but deliver their own souls by their righteousness.” Ezekiel 14:20. {COL 411.2}
It is in a crisis that character is revealed. When the earnest voice proclaimed at midnight, “Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him,” and the sleeping virgins were roused from their slumbers, it was seen who had made preparation for the event. Both parties were taken unawares; but one was prepared for the emergency, and the other was found without preparation. So now, a sudden and unlooked-for calamity, something that brings the soul face to face with death, will show whether there is any real faith in the promises of God. It will show whether the soul is sustained by grace. The great final test comes at the close of human probation, when it will be too late for the soul’s need to be supplied. {COL 412.1}
The ten virgins are watching in the evening of this earth’s history. All claim to be Christians. All have a call, a name, a lamp, and all profess to be doing God’s service. All apparently wait for Christ’s appearing. But five are unready. Five will be found surprised, dismayed, outside the banquet hall.” {COL 412.2}

“…when the mighty angel (Rev 18- 4th angel) will come down from heaven, and unite with the third angel in closing up the work for this world; my message is that our only safety is in being ready for the heavenly refreshing, having our lamps trimmed and burning. Christ has told us to watch; “for in such an hour as ye think not, the Son of man cometh.” (close of probation) “Watch and pray” is the charge that is given us by our Redeemer. Day by day we are to seek the enlightenment of the Spirit of God, that it may do its office work upon the soul and character. O, how much time has been wasted through giving attention to trifling things. “I saw that many were neglecting the preparation so needful, and were looking to the time of “refreshing” and the “latter rain” to fit them to stand in the day of the Lord, and to live in His sight. Oh, how many I saw in the time of trouble without a shelter! They had neglected the needful preparation, therefore they could not receive the refreshing [outpouring of Holy Spirit] that all must have to fit them to live in the sight of a holy God. {CET 112.3}
Those who refuse to be hewed by the prophets, and fail to purify their souls in obeying the whole truth, and who are willing to believe that their condition is far better than it really is, will come up to the time of the falling of the plagues, and then see that they needed to be hewed and squared for the building. But there will be no time then to do it and no Mediator to plead their cause before the Father. Before this time [probation/ salvation will have closed] the awfully solemn declaration has gone forth, “He that is unjust, let him be unjust still; and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still; and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still; and he that is holy, let him be holy still.” {CET 112.4}
I saw that none could share the “refreshing,” unless they obtain the victory over every besetment, over pride, selfishness, love of the world, and over every wrong word and action. We should, therefore, be drawing nearer and nearer to the Lord, and be earnestly seeking that preparation necessary to enable us to stand in the battle in the day of the Lord. Let all remember that God is holy, and that none but holy beings can ever dwell in His presence.” {CET 113.1} emphasis supplied

WARNINGS AGAINST TIME SETTING AS FOUND IN MATTHEW 24 AND LUKE 12:

“Different times were set for the Lord to come, and were urged upon the brethren. But the Lord showed me that they would pass by, for the time of trouble (Dan 12:1 plagues- time of trouble- comes after Dan 11:45 fulfilled- Islam plants tabernacle of his palace in Jerusalem) must come before the advent of Christ (2^nd Coming), and that every time a date was set, and passed, it would weaken the faith of God’s people. For this I was charged with being the evil servant that said, “My Lord delayeth His coming” (Matt 24:48; Luke 12:45).” {LSMS 137.3} (Parenthesis added)

“The people of God need to study what characters they must form in order to pass through the test and proving of the last days. Many are living in spiritual weakness and backsliding. They know not what they believe (know not the history & immovable solid foundational teachings of our faith). Let us read and study the twelfth chapter of Daniel. It is a warning (Dan 12:1- the 7 last plagues to come upon the unrepentant & disobedient!) that we shall all need to understand before the time of the end. There are ministers claiming to believe the truth who are not sanctified through the truth (We are sanctified by the TRUTH- John 17:17, not by error!). Unless a change comes in their lives, they will say, “My Lord delayeth His coming.”’ [Matthew 24:48.] {Lt161-1903.6} (Parenthesis added)

“The times and seasons God has put in His own power. And why has not God given us this knowledge?– Because we would not make a right use of it if He did. A condition of things would result from this knowledge among our people that would greatly retard the work of God in preparing a people to stand in the great day that is to come. We are not to be engrossed with speculations in regard to the times and the seasons which God has not revealed. Jesus has told His disciples to “watch,” but not for definite time. His followers are to be in the position of those who are listening for the orders of their Captain; they are to watch, wait, pray, and work, as they approach the time for the coming (close of probation- Dan 11:45 Islam invades Jerusalem) of the Lord; but no one will be able to predict just when that time will come; for “of that day and hour knoweth no man.” You will not be able to say that He will come in one, two, or five years, neither are you to put off His coming by stating that it may not be for ten or twenty years. . . . We are not to know the definite time either for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit or for the coming of Christ.”–Review and Herald, March 22, 1892.  {Ev 221.1} (Parenthesis added)

“That a wrong use is often made of the text [Matthew 24:36] is evident from the context. … One saying of the Saviour must not be made to destroy another. Though no man knoweth the day nor the hour (close of probation), we are instructed and required [for it is in the imperative] (Imperative-“of vital importance, Crucial”) to know when it (close of probation) is near (Dan 11:45 Turkey invades Jerusalem), even at the doors (Dan 12:1 Jesus steps out of MHP)“. {4SP 496.2} (Parenthesis added) [Brackets in original]

“No one has a true message fixing the time when Christ is to come or not to come. Be assured that God gives no one authority to say that Christ delays His coming five years, ten years, or twenty years. “Be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh” [Matthew 24:44]. This (close of probation) is our message, the very message that the three angels flying in the midst of heaven are proclaiming. The work to be done now is that of sounding this last message of mercy to a fallen world. A new life is coming from heaven and taking possession of all God’s people. But divisions will come in the church. Two parties will be developed. The wheat and tares grow up together for the harvest.” {17MR 17.2}  (Parenthesis added)

You must lay your preconceived opinions, your hereditary and cultivated ideas, at the door of investigation. If you search the Scriptures to vindicate your own opinions, you will never reach the truth.

WARNINGS AGAINST TIME SETTING

“The word of God is the seed. Every seed has in itself a germinating principle. In it the life of the plant is enfolded. So there is life in God’s word. Christ says, “The words that I speak unto you, they are Spirit, and they are life.” John 6:63. “He that heareth My word, and believeth on Him that sent Me, hath everlasting life.” John 5:24. In every command and in every promise of the word of God is the power, the very life of God, by which the command may be fulfilled and the promise realized. He who by faith receives the word is receiving the very life and character of God.
Every seed brings forth fruit after its kind. Sow the seed under right conditions, and it will develop its own life in the plant. Receive into the soul by faith the incorruptible seed of the word, and it will bring forth a character and a life after the similitude of the character and the life of God. …
Christ’s servants are to do the same work. In our day, as of old, the vital truths of God’s word are set aside for human theories and speculations. Many professed ministers of the gospel do not accept the whole Bible as the inspired word. One wise man rejects one portion; another questions another part. They set up their judgment as superior to the word; and the Scripture which they do teach rests upon their own authority. Its divine authenticity is destroyed. …”
