Law of God/ Sabbath- Seal of God

“When the Spirit of God controls mind and heart, the converted soul breaks forth into a new song; for he realizes that in his experience the promise of God has been fulfilled, that his transgression has been forgiven, his sin covered. He has exercised repentance toward God for the violation of the divine law, and faith toward Christ, who died for man’s justification. “Being justified by faith,” he has “peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 5:1. {AA 476.2}

“In the life of Christ the principles of the law are made plain; and as the Holy Spirit of God touches the heart; as the light of Christ reveals to men their need of his cleansing blood and his justifying righteousness, the law is still an agent in bringing us to Christ, that we may be justified by faith. ‘The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul.’” {CET 248.2}

“The law of Jehovah, dating back to creation, was comprised in the two great principles, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength. This is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this: Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.” These two great principles embrace the first four commandments, showing the duty of man to God, and the last six, showing the duty of man to his fellow-man. The principles were more explicitly stated to man after the fall, and worded to meet the case of fallen intelligences. This was necessary in consequence of the minds of men being blinded by transgression.” {RH May 6, 1875, par. 13}

“The law of God existed before the creation of man or else Adam could not have sinned. After the transgression of Adam the principles of the law were not changed, but were definitely arranged and expressed to meet man in his fallen condition. Christ, in counsel with his Father, instituted the system of sacrificial offerings: that death, instead of being immediately visited upon the transgressor, should be transferred to a victim which should prefigure the great and perfect offering of the Son of God.” {ST March 14, 1878, par. 3}

“In consequence of continual transgression, the moral law was repeated in awful grandeur from Sinai. Christ gave to Moses religious precepts which were to govern the everyday life. These statutes were explicitly given to guard the ten commandments. They were not shadowy types to pass away with the death of Christ. They were to be binding upon man in every age as long as time should last.These commands were enforced by the power of the moral law, and they clearly and definitely explained that law.” {RH May 6, 1875, par. 10}

“And ye shall keep it a feast unto the LORD seven days in the year. It shall be a statute for ever in your generations: ye shall celebrate it in the seventh month.”  Lev 23:41
Thou shalt keep therefore his statutes, and his commandments, which I command thee this day, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, and that thou mayest prolong thy days upon the earth, which the LORD thy God giveth thee, for ever.” Deut 4:40

“When the Jews rejected Christ they rejected the foundation of their faith. And, on the other hand, the Christian world of today who claim faith in Christ, but reject the law of God are making a mistake similar to that of the deceived Jews. Those who profess to cling to Christ, centering their hopes on him, while they pour contempt upon the moral law, and the prophecies, are in no safer position than were the unbelieving Jews. They cannot understandingly call sinners to repentance, for they are unable to properly explain what they are to repent of. The sinner, upon being exhorted to forsake his sins, has a right to ask, What is sin? Those who respect the law of God can answer, Sin is the transgression of the law. In confirmation of this the apostle Paul says, I had not known sin but by the law. Those only who acknowledge the binding claim of the moral law can explain the nature of the atonement.

In Loving Memory of the Waldensians, the forerunner to the Reformation, who faithfully kept the commandments of God~

“The Waldensians entered the schools of the world as students. They made no pretensions; apparently they paid no attention to anyone; but they lived out what they believedThey never sacrificed principle, and their principles soon became known.” {4MR 51.1}

“These were in ancient times a people who looked with a horror upon the abominations of the church of Rome and sought to worship God in peace, according to the Word of GodThey could not do this without coming into collision on every side with the opinions of Rome. While they [the Vaudois] had not a clear and distinct view of justification by faith, these were a step behind the Waldensianswho in purity of doctrine composed a long line of witnesses to the truth. They made their homes in the Piedmont Alps. The seclusion helped to maintain their purityFrom the mountain heights, Waldensians protested against the corruption of the Roman church. They contended for the faith once delivered to the saints: that Christ is our Mediator, and His merits alone can cleanse from all sin. And yet their faith needed elevation. True progress did not mark their course; for they were tinctured with the customs of Rome. But gradually the clouds of error were rolling away in other parts of the world. Just as soon as Rome saw that men were searching for truth, digging for truth as for hid treasures, and not receiving their faith from Rome, then she was stirred. The Roman piety was the only piety that must be current. {Ms62-1886.74}

“From the beginning, God has been working by His Holy Spirit through human instrumentalities for the accomplishment of His purpose in behalf of the fallen race….It was through the power of the Holy Spirit that during the Dark Ages the Waldensian Christians helped to prepare the way for the Reformation. It was the same power that made successful the efforts of the noble men and women who pioneered the way for the establishment of modern missions and for the translation of the Bible into the languages and dialects of all nations and peoples.” {AA 53.1}

These mountains and caverns and clefts of the rock which we behold have a history. Martyrs have perished here, and these places will never reveal their sacred trust until the Life-giver shall call them with the voice of the Archangel and the trump of God from the rocky caverns, the dungeons, the caves, and the clefts of the rocks. They died in exile, some by starvation, others by the cruel hand of man. They walked with God, and will walk with Him in white because they are found worthy. {Ms62-1886.105}
This earth is not deprived even now of angel visitors. They come in the guise of men. They communicate to the children of men, but their eyes are holden and they know them not. All that God has given us in the treasures of the earth is to draw our minds to Him. The most wonderful sacrifice has been made in our behalf, and shall anything come between our hearts and our God? {Ms62-1886.106}
What a sight will it be when the dead shall come forth from their graves among these Waldensian valleys! I was informed that, not far back, in these Catholic villages, when working about buildings or digging in the ground, there are found heaps of bones of human beings, and in these bodies are seen long spikes, sharpened at both ends, attached to the back skull bones and running down the backThese things stir the enmity of Protestants to the depths of their souls. A little may be revealed now and then, but chapters of the book of history of sufferings will never a page of it be opened, that any one may obtain a glimpse of the work of Satan, accomplished through wicked men claiming to be serving God. The mountains, the dens, the caves of the earth, the dungeons lying beneath the monasteries have a history which the great retributive day of God’s will revealFrom these hidden pits where human beings have been buried will start into life those who counted not their lives dear unto themselves, who valued integrity of soul to God above ease, above property, above life itself. From beneath the molding majestic walls is ground cursed by the Roman power, but sanctified by the blood of martyrs; and as the blood of Abel cried to God from the ground, so will the blood of these slaughtered ones cry to God from the ground for vengeance.” {Ms62-1886.107}

“I saw the rapidity with which this delusion was spreading. A train of cars was shown me, going with the speed of lightning. The angel bade me look carefully. I fixed my eyes upon the train. It seemed that the whole world was on board; that there could not be one left. Said the angel: “They are binding in bundles ready to burn.” Then he shewed me the conductor, who looked like a stately fair person, which all the passengers looked up to and reverenced. I was perplexed, and asked my attending angel who it was. Said he, It is Satan. He is the conductor in the form of an angel of light. He has taken the world captive. They are given over to strong delusions, to believe a lie that they may be damned. This agent, the next highest in order to him, is the engineer, and others of his agents are employed in different offices as he may need them, and they are all going with lightning speed to perdition. They are binding in bundles ready to burn. I asked the angel if there were none left. He bade me look in an opposite direction, and I saw a little company traveling a narrow pathway. All seemed to be firmly united, and bound together by the truth, in bundles, or companies. Said the angel, The third angel is binding them (sealing them) in bundles for the heavenly garner.” {ExV54 6.3}

The track of truth lies close beside the track of error, and both tracks may seem to be one to minds which are not worked by the Holy Spirit, and which, therefore, are not quick to discern the difference between truth and error
{1SM 202.2}

“God has given his law for the regulation of the conduct of nations, of families, and of individuals. There is not one worker of wickedness, though his sin is the least and the most secret, that escapes the denunciation of that law.”
{RH February 8, 1898, par. 8}

“Our duty to obey this law is to be the burden of the last message of mercy to the world. God’s law is not a new thing. It is not holiness created, but holiness made known. It is a code of principles expressing mercy, goodness, and love. It presents to fallen humanity the character of God, and states plainly the whole duty of man.
{19MR 182.7}

“In the Ten Commandments God has laid down the laws of His kingdom. Any violation of the laws of nature is a violation of the law of God. The Lord has given His commandments to be a wall of protection round His created beings, and those who will keep themselves from the defilement of appetite and passion may become partakers of the divine nature. Their perceptions will be clear. They will know how to preserve every faculty in health, so that it may be presented to God in service.”
{ST April 4, 1900, par. 19}

THE TEN COMMANDMENTS— TEN PROMISES:
These promises are all given on conditions. The Ten Commandments, Thou shalt and Thou shalt not, are ten promises, assured to us if we render obedience to the law governing the universe “if ye love me, keep my commandments.” [John 14:15.] Here is the sum and substance of the law of God. The terms of salvation for every son and daughter of Adam are here outlined. {12LtMs, Ms 41, 1897, par. 26}
The ten holy precepts spoken by Christ upon Sinai’s mount were the revelation of the character of God, and made known to the world the fact that He had jurisdiction over the whole human heritage. That law of ten precepts of the greatest love that can be presented to man is the voice of God from heaven speaking to the soul in promise, “This do, and you will not come under the dominion and control of Satan.” There is not a negative in that law, although it may appear thus. It is Do, and Live. {13LtMs, Lt 89, 1898, par. 14}

“Moses was commandedto write, as God should bid him, judgments and laws giving minute instruction as to what was required. These directions relating to the duty of the people to God, to one another, and to the stranger were only the principles of the Ten Commandments amplified and given in a specific manner, that none need err. They were designed to guard the sacredness of the ten precepts [ten commandments] engraved on the tables of stone.”
{PP 364.1} emphasis supplied

When you see the word “law” in the New Testament, it means “Torah” which is the first five books of the Bible.

Romans 7:12  Wherefore the law [G3551- Moses’s statutes; the Torah] [is] holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good

 7:13  Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful

The Law of God

The Ten Commandments

Exodus 20:1-17

And God spake all these words, saying, I [am] the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

~ONE~
Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

~TWO~
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness [of any thing] that [is] in heaven above, or that [is] in the earth beneath, or that [is] in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God [am] a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth [generation] of them that hate me; And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

~THREE~
Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

~FOUR~
Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work. But the seventh day [is] the sabbath of the LORD thy God: [in it] thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that [is] within thy gates: For [in] six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them [is], and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

~FIVE~
Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

~SIX~
Thou shalt not kill.

~SEVEN~
Thou shalt not commit adultery.

~EIGHT~
Thou shalt not steal.

~NINE~
Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

~TEN~
Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that [is] thy neighbour’s.

“God has given us his holy precepts, because he loves mankind. To shield us from the results of transgression, he reveals the principles of righteousness. The law is an expression of the thought of God; when received in Christ, it becomes our thought. It lifts us above the power of natural desires and tendencies, above temptations that lead to sin. God desires us to be happy, and he gave us the precepts of the law that in obeying them we might have joy. When at Jesus’ birth the angels sang— “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, good will toward men.” they were declaring the principles of the law which he had come to magnify and make honorable.” {SW August 11, 1908, par. 2}

God requires that His holy day be as sacredly observed now as in the time of Israel. The command given to the Hebrews should be regarded by all Christians as an injunction from Jehovah to them. The day before the Sabbath should be made a day of preparation, that everything may be in readiness for its sacred hours. In no case should our own business be allowed to encroach upon holy time. God has directed that the sick and suffering be cared for; the labor required to make them comfortable is a work of mercy, and no violation of the Sabbath; but all unnecessary work should be avoided. Many carelessly put off till the beginning of the Sabbath little things that might have been done on the day of preparation. This should not be. Work that is neglected until the beginning of the Sabbath should remain undone until it is past. This course might help the memory of these thoughtless ones, and make them careful to do their own work on the six working days.

Exodus 20:8-11

20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
20:9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
20:10 But the seventh day [is] the sabbath of the LORD thy God: [in it] thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that [is] within thy gates:
20:11 For [in] six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them [is], and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

The Sabbath is not for the purpose of resting the body. The night is given for rest, and nobody has any business to get so wearied by his daily toil that he cannot get rested over night, so as to be fresh in the morning. The night is given for physical rest, and the Sabbath for spiritual refreshment. If man needed no other rest than rest of body, there would be no need for the Sabbath; whoever comes up to the Sabbath so jaded in body that he is obliged to devote all or a portion of it (the night, of course, excepted) to sleep and physical recreation, is not a keeper of it, but a Sabbath-breaker.”
E. J. Waggoner, Present Truth UK, September 26, 1901
Don’t Forget the Sabbath

1. Don’t forget the Sabbath,
    The Lord our God hath blest,
Of all the week the brightest,
    Of all the week the best;
It brings repose from labor,
    It tells of joy divine,
Its beams of light descending,
    With heav’nly beauty shine.

Refrain
Welcome, welcome, ever welcome,
    Blessed Sabbath day,
Welcome, welcome, ever welcome,
    Blessed Sabbath day.

2. Keep the Sabbath holy,
    And worship Him today,
Who said to His disciples,
    “I am the living Way”;
And if we meekly follow
    Our Savior here below,
He’ll give us of the fountain
    Whose streams eternal flow.
Refrain

3. Day of sacred pleasure!
    Its golden hours we’ll spend
In thankful hymns to Jesus,
    The children’s dearest Friend;
O gentle, loving, Savior,
    How good and kind Thou art,
How precious is Thy promise
    To dwell in every heart!
Refrain

A Beautiful Promise in Isaiah

And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.

EX 31:16-17

The Lord desires to meet with us once per week on His weekly Sabbath Feast day, the Seventh Day Sabbath; to remind us of His great love for mankind through His creative and redemptive power exemplified by the life, teachings and great sacrifice of His dear son, Jesus Christ.

“And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, [Concerning] the feasts of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim [to be] holy convocations, [even] these [are] my feasts. Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day [is] the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work [therein]: it [is] the sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings.” Leviticus 23:1-3

CONVOCATION (H4744)– Something called out, a public meeting, assembly, regarded as sacred by Divine command

Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
But the seventh day [is] the sabbath of the LORD thy God: [in it] thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that [is] within thy gates:
For [in] six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them [is], and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.”
Exodus 20:8-11

In the time of the end, every divine institution is to be restored.” PK 678.2

Please see Ellen White quotes and PDF documents below (Law of Moses) showing the weekly Seventh-day Sabbath is a FEAST day and a HOLY CONVOCATION
“In the last day, that great [day] of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.John 7:37
see John 6: 40, 44,45, 54; Jude 1:6

COLOSSIANS 2:14 EXPLAINED

The purpose of the Feasts is to be thankful and celebrate what the Lord has done for us as the following song portrays:
Feast of Love

1. Come, and let us sweetly join,
Christ to praise in,
Christ to praise in hymns divine;

Refrain
Hands and hearts and voices raise;
Sing as in the ancient days;
Enter, taste the joys above,
Celebrate the feast of love.

2. Give we all with one accord:
Glory to our, glory to our common Lord;
Refrain

3. Strive we, in affection strive;
Let the purer, let the purer flame revive;
Refrain
Scriptural studies on God’s feasts that show our Savior’s love through the lovely plan of salvation:
Sister White clearly confirms the Seventh-day weekly Sabbath as a FEAST in Leviticus 23:1-3  as she quotes this verse and connects it to the gathering of twice as much bread the day before seventh-day Sabbath:
“All who will consult their Bibles will know, “What saith the Lord?” “And it came to pass, that on the sixth day they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for one man; and all the rulers of the congregation came and told Moses. And he said unto them, This is that which the Lord hath said, Tomorrow is the rest of the holy Sabbath unto the Lord: bake that which ye will bake today, and seethe that ye will seethe; and that which remaineth over lay up for you to be kept until the morning.” [Ex 16:22-23] And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning the feasts of the Lord, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my feasts.Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the Sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the Sabbath of the Lord in all your dwellings.” [Lev 23:1-3] And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my Sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the Lord that doth sanctify you. Ye shall keep the Sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you: every one that defileth it shall surely be put to death: for whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people. Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the Sabbath of rest, holy to the Lord: whosoever doeth any work in the Sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death. Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, to observe the Sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant. It is a sign between me and the children of Israel forever: for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, andon the seventh day he rested and was refreshed.” “[Ex 31:13-16] {RH June 1, 1897, par. 6}
“Will my Sister Wellman consult her Bible, and she will know “What saith the Lord?” “And it came to pass on the sixth day, that they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for one man: and all the rulers of the congregation came and told Moses. And he said unto them, This is that which the Lord hath said, Tomorrow is the rest of the holy Sabbath of the Lord; bake that which ye will bake today, and seethe that ye will seethe: and that which remaineth over lay up for you to keep until tomorrow.” [Exodus 16:22, 23.] And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, Consider the feasts of the Lord, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my feasts. Six days shall work be done; but the seventh is the Sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the Sabbath of the Lord in all your dwellings.” [Leviticus 23:1-3.]” {Ms21-1897.7}

In ancient times, there were 2 sacrifices (sin offerings) per day performed in the sanctuary service; one in the morning and one in the evening. There are 7 days per week. Therefore, there were 2 sacrifices performed on every seventh-day Sabbath each week.~ Num 28:9, 10; Eze 46:4, 5 (We no longer perform sacrifices since Christ, our perfect sacrifice, fulfilled those typical sin offering services when He died on the cross. Col 2:14).

Christ’s ministry lasted for 3 ½ years or 1260 days. 1260 days x 2 sacrifices per day comes out to 2520!  We are told by Ellen White that the last lamb got away from the sanctuary the day Christ died. Therefore, they only had 2519 lambs and were one lamb short. Christ was the 2520th lamb!

For more information, see our Judgment/ 2520 page & Sanctuary page.

“When the loud cry, “It is finished,” came from the lips of Christ, the priests were officiating in the temple. It was the hour of the evening sacrifice. The lamb representing Christ had been brought to be slain. Clothed in his significant and beautiful dress, the priest stood with lifted knife, as did Abraham when he was about to slay his son. With intense interest the people were looking on. But the earth trembles and quakes; for the Lord Himself draws near. With a rending noise the inner veil of the temple is torn from top to bottom by an unseen hand, throwing open to the gaze of the multitude a place once filled with the presence of God. In this place the Shekinah had dwelt. Here God had manifested His glory above the mercy seat. No one but the high priest ever lifted the veil separating this apartment from the rest of the temple. He entered in once a year to make an atonement for the sins of the people. But lo, this veil is rent in twain. The most holy place of the earthly sanctuary is no longer sacred.
All is terror and confusion.
The priest is about to slay the victim; but the knife drops from his nerveless hand, and the lamb escapes. Type has met antitype in the death of God’s Son. The great sacrifice has been made. The way into the holiest is laid open. A new and living way is prepared for all. No longer need sinful, sorrowing humanity await the coming of the high priest. Henceforth the Saviour was to officiate as priest and advocate in the heaven of heavens. It was as if a living voice had spoken to the worshipers: There is now an end to all sacrifices and offerings for sin. The Son of God is come according to His word, “Lo, I come (in the volume of the Book it is written of Me,) to do Thy will, O God.” “By His own blood” He entereth “in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.” Hebrews 10:7; 9:12.” {DA 756.5-757.1}
How the Sunday pagan festival replaced the Seventh-day Sabbath feast
“Royal edicts, human councils, and church ordinances sustained by secular power, were the steps by which the pagan festival attained its position of honor in the Christian world. The first public measure enforcing Sunday observance was the law enacted [A. D. 321] by Constantine, two years before his profession of Christianity. This edict required towns-people to rest on the venerable day of the sun, but permitted countrymen to continue their agricultural pursuits. Though originally a heathen statute, it was enforced by the emperor after his nominal acceptance of the Christian religion.” {4SP 391.1  see also pages 55, 56, 64 & 180}
“The spirit of concession to paganism opened the way for a still further disregard of Heaven’s authority. Satan tampered with the fourth commandment also, and essayed to set aside the ancient Sabbath, the day which God had blessed and sanctified, and in its stead to exalt the festival observed by the heathen as “the venerable day of the sun.” This change was not at first attempted openly. In the first centuries the true Sabbath had been kept by all Christians. They were jealous for the honor of God, and, believing that His law is immutable, they zealously guarded the sacredness of its precepts. But with great subtlety Satan worked through his agents to bring about his object. That the attention of the people might be called to the Sunday, it was made a festival in honor of the resurrection of Christ. Religious services were held on it; yet it was regarded as a day of recreation, the Sabbath being still sacredly observed.” {SR 328.2}
“As the sign of the authority of the Catholic Church, papist writers cite, “the very act of changing the Sabbath into Sunday, which Protestants allow of … because by keeping Sunday strictly they acknowledge the church’s power to ordain feasts, and to command them under sin.” [“Abridgment of Christian Doctrine.”] What then is the change of the Sabbath, but the sign or mark of the authority of the Romish Church—“the mark of the beast”? {GC88 448.2}
The arch deceiver had not completed his work. He was resolved to gather the Christian world under his banner and to exercise his power through his vicegerent, the proud pontiff who claimed to be the representative of Christ. Through half-converted pagans, ambitious prelates, and world-loving churchmen he ccomplished his purpose. Vast councils were held from time to time, in which the dignitaries of the church were convened from all the world. In nearly every council the Sabbath which God had instituted was pressed down a little lower, while the Sunday was correspondingly exalted. Thus the pagan festival came finally to be honored as a divine institution, while the Bible Sabbath was pronounced a relic of Judaism, and its observers were declared to be accursed.” {GC 53.2}
In the time of the end, every divine institution is to be restored.” PK 678.2

SATAN THOUGHT TO CHANGE GOD’S TIMES AND LAWS (10/ COMMANDMENTS & FEASTS) BY INTRODUCING FALSE PAGAN HOLIDAYS:

Catholic Church Speaks:
“Practically everything Protestants regard as essential or important they have received from the Catholic Church… The Protestant mind does not seem to realize that in accepting the Bible and observing the Sunday, in keeping Christmas and Easter, they are accepting the authority of the spokesman for the church, the Pope.”

A Long Lost-Sight-of Blessing

Our Sins Nailed to the Cross

Our sins (penalty of the law which was “against us;” our sins– “handwriting of ordinances“) were nailed (paid for by Christ- our sins blotted out by His sin offering) to the cross. The law was not abolished, our sins were abolished (paid for) by Christ’s death on the cross. The law is in full force and is still binding.

Law of Moses

“The significance of the Jewish economy is not yet fully comprehended. Truths vast and profound are shadowed forth in its rites and symbols. The gospel is the key that unlocks its mysteries. Through a knowledge of the plan of redemption, its truths are opened to the understanding. Far more than we do, it is our privilege to understand these wonderful themes. We are to comprehend the deep things of God. Angels desire to look into the truths that are revealed to the people who with contrite hearts are searching the word of God, and praying for greater lengths and breadths and depths and heights of the knowledge which He alone can give.”

COUNSEL TO KEEP THE LAW OF MOSES:
“I would advise you what to do; I am a mother of boys. I advise you to humble your heart, confess your wrong, and consider the solemn charge David gave to Solomon on his dying bed, which was, “Be a man.” “Be thou strong, and shew thyself a man, and keep the charge of the Lord thy Godto walk in His waysto keep His statutesand His commandments, and His judgments and His testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and whithersoever thou turnest thyself.” [1 Kings 2:2, 3.] Take this charge to your own heart, Henri. Let no one flatter you to wrongdoing: it is a disgrace to sin, but it is no disgrace to confess your sins; but rather an honor. I write to you as I would to my own sons. I want you to have true individuality, and true manly dignity, but pride, self-conceit, and false dignity can only be maintained at the most terrible consequences to yourself.”
{5LtMs, Lt 49, 1887, par. 4 & 5T 509}

The closing words of Malachi are a prophecy regarding the work that should be done preparatory to the first and the second advent of Christ. This prophecy is introduced with the admonition, “Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments.”

God’s Holy Day by M. L Andreasen

The Book of Hebrews by M. L. Andreasen

Christ’s death proves God’s great love for man. It is our pledge of salvation. To remove the cross from the Christian would be like blotting the sun from the sky. The cross brings us near to God, reconciling us to Him. With the relenting compassion of a father’s love, Jehovah looks upon the suffering that His Son endured in order to save the race from eternal death, and accepts us in the Beloved.

“We should never give sanction to sin by our words or our deeds, our silence or our presence.”

“Sin is transgression of the law”
1John 3:4

“Those who venture to cherish the sin which they love best, are tampering with Satan’s sorcery.”
{ST May 18, 1882, par. 21}

Says the great deceiver: “We must watch those who are calling the attention of the people to the Sabbath of Jehovah; they will lead many to see the claims of the law of God; and the same light which reveals the true Sabbath, reveals also the ministration of Christ in the heavenly sanctuary, and shows that the last work for man’s salvation is now going forward. Hold the minds of the people in darkness till that work is ended, and we shall secure the world and the church also. “The Sabbath is the great question which is to decide the destiny of souls. We must exalt the Sabbath of our creating (false Sunday worship). We have caused it to be accepted by both worldlings and church-members; now the church must be led to unite with the world in its support. We must work by signs and wonders to blind their eyes to the truth, and lead them to lay aside reason and the fear of God, and follow custom and tradition.”

TRUE REPENTANCE/ CONVERSION/ CONVICTION/ PIETY

The first step toward heaven is conviction of sin, the second is repentance and obedience. RH S`ept 17, 1895 par 4

“The first step toward obedience is repentance.  ST August 13, 1894, par. 6

Repentance for sin is the first step in conversion. Repentance is an intense hatred of sin in all its forms. ST Aug 13, 1894 par 5

True repentance is more than sorrow for sin. It is a resolute turning away from evil. {PP 557.2}

True piety never exalts selfRH Sept 17, 1895 par 4

Those who have true piety esteem and revere the law of GodThrough the grace of Christ they exemplify the principles of the law in their lives, and will not willfully break any of the commandments of God. … The converted soul has a hatred of sin; he does not indulge in self-complacency, self-love, self-sufficiency, nor pass on day after day, claiming to be a Christian, and yet bringing dishonor upon Christ by misrepresenting him in character.  Those who make this mistake, and pass on filled with self-righteousness, have not in reality made the first step heavenward. The first step toward heaven is conviction of sin, the second is repentance and obedience. True piety never exalts self.  RH Sept 17, 1895 par 4

It is through the impartation of the grace of Christ that sin is discerned in its hateful nature, and finally driven from the soul temple. {RH, November 4, 1890 par. 6}

When we are clothed with the righteousness of Christ, we shall have no relish for sin; for Christ will be working with us. We may make mistakes, but we will hate the sin that caused the sufferings of the Son of God. A door has been opened, and no man can close it, neither the highest powers nor the lowest; you alone can close the door of your heart, so that the Lord cannot reach you. You have been having light from heaven for the past year and a half, that the Lord would have you bring into your character and weave into your experience.  {RH, March 18, 1890 par. 1}

Spirit of Prophecy Quotes on the Law and the Sabbath

Every voice that shall be heard in the pulpits on Sunday testifying that the first day of the week is the Sabbath is echoing the words of the first great deceiver. In this teaching the ministers are giving themselves away, for where there is no law there is no transgression, no sin, and if no sin, there is no need of the gospel, no need of a Saviour.”  {21MR 282.2}

We have come to a time when God’s sacred work is represented by the feet of the image in which the iron was mixed with the miry clay. God has a people, a chosen people, whose discernment must be sanctified, who must not become unholy by laying upon the foundation wood, hay, and stubble. Every soul who is loyal to the commandments of God will see that the distinguishing feature of our faith is the seventh-day Sabbath. If the government would honor the Sabbath as God has commanded, it would stand in the strength of God and in defense of the faith once delivered to the saints. But statesmen will uphold the spurious sabbath, and will mingle their religious faith with the observance of this child of the papacy, placing it above the Sabbath which the Lord has sanctified and blessed, setting it apart for man to keep holy, as a sign between Him and His people to a thousand generations. The mingling of churchcraft and statecraft is represented by the iron and the clay. This union is weakening all the power of the churches. This investing the church with the power of the state will bring evil results. Men have almost passed the point of God’s forbearance. They have invested their strength in politics, and have united with the papacy. But the time will come when God will punish those who have made void His law, and their evil work will recoil upon themselves (MS 63, 1899). {4BC 1168.8}

“We want heaven and its joy. We want to put away sin, and it is our privilege to ask, “What is sin?” The Bible gives the definition: “Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law” [1 John 3:4]. The law of God is the rule of our life, and by it our characters will be measured. It is the work of Satan to keep you from forming a right character that will meet the perfect standard. I desire that you should have a heaven of bliss, and the great gift will be bestowed on those that obey. Our precious Saviour has provided everything for us, and we should remember Jesus and follow Him. ” {5MR 260.3}

“What is sin? “The transgression of the law.” God denounces Babylon, “because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornications.This means that she has disregarded the only commandment which points out the true God, and has torn down the Sabbath, God’s memorial of creation.” {KC 147.4}

“A terrible doom awaits the sinner, and therefore it is necessary that we know what sin is, in order that we may escape from its power. John says, “Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law; for sin is the transgression of the law.” Here we have the true definition of sin; it is “the transgression of the law.” How often the sinner is urged to leave his sins, and come to Jesus; but has the messenger who would lead him to Christ clearly pointed out the way? Has he clearly pointed out the fact that “sin is the transgression of the law,” and that he must repent, and forsake the breaking of God’s commandments? Christ will come to consume the false prophet, to sweep away the hosts of apostasy, to take vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of God; and it is of the highest importance to each one of us that we know the conditions by which we shall escape the sinner’s doom. It is of the greatest moment that we understand the nature of our fall and the consequences of transgression. Man’s conscience has become hardened by sin, and his understanding darkened by transgression, and his judgment has become confused as to what is sin. He has become benumbed by the influence of iniquity, and it is essential that his conscience be aroused to understand that sin is the transgression of God’s holy law. He who does not obey the commandments of God is a sinner in the sight of God. {ST, June 20, 1895 par. 5}

Spirit of Prophecy Quotes on the Sabbath/ Seal of God

Not all who profess to keep the Sabbath will be sealed. There are many even among those who teach the truth to others who will not receive the seal of God in their foreheads. They had the light of truth, they knew their Master’s will, they understood every point of our faith, but they had not corresponding works. These who were so familiar with prophecy and the treasures of divine wisdom should have acted their faith. They should have commanded their households after them, that by a well-ordered family they might present to the world the influence of the truth upon the human heart. {5T 213.2}
By their lack of devotion and piety, and their failure to reach a high religious standard, they make other souls contented with their position. Men of finite judgment cannot see that in patterning after these men who have so often opened to them the treasures of God’s word, they will surely endanger their souls. Jesus is the only true pattern. Everyone must now search the Bible for himself upon his knees before God, with the humble, teachable heart of a child, if he would know what the Lord requires of him. However high any minister may have stood in the favor of God, if he neglects to follow out the light given him of God, if he refuses to be taught as a little child, he will go into darkness and satanic delusions and will lead others in the same path. {5T 214.1}
Not one of us will ever receive the seal of God while our characters have one spot or stain upon them. It is left with us to remedy the defects in our characters, to cleanse the soul temple of every defilement. Then the latter rain will fall upon us as the early rain fell upon the disciples on the Day of Pentecost. {5T 214.2}
We are too easily satisfied with our attainments. We feel rich and increased with goods and know not that we are “wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked.” Now is the time to heed the admonition of the True Witness: “I counsel thee to buy of Me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.” {5T 214.3}
In this life we must meet fiery trials and make costly sacrifices, but the peace of Christ is the reward. There has been so little self-denial, so little suffering for Christ’s sake, that the cross is almost entirely forgotten. We must be partakers with Christ of His sufferings if we would sit down in triumph with Him on His throne. So long as we choose the easy path of self-indulgence and are frightened at self-denial, our faith will never become firm, and we cannot know the peace of Jesus nor the joy that comes through conscious victory. The most exalted of the redeemed host that stand before the throne of God and the Lamb, clad in white, know the conflict of overcoming, for they have come up through great tribulation. Those who have yielded to circumstances rather than engage in this conflict will not know how to stand in that day when anguish will be upon every soul, when, though Noah, Job, and Daniel were in the land, they could save neither son nor daughter, for everyone must deliver his soul by his own righteousness. {5T 215.1}
No one need say that his case is hopeless, that he cannot live the life of a Christian. Ample provision is made by the death of Christ for every soul. Jesus is our ever-present help in time of need. Only call upon Him in faith, and He has promised to hear and answer your petitions. {5T 215.2}
Oh, for a living, active faith! We need it; we must have it, or we shall faint and fail in the day of trial. The darkness that will then rest upon our path must not discourage us or drive us to despair. It is the veil with which God covers His glory when He comes to impart rich blessings. We should know this by our past experience. In that day when God has a controversy with His people this experience will be a source of comfort and hope. {5T 215.3}
It is now that we must keep ourselves and our children unspotted from the world. It is now that we must wash our robes of character and make them white in the blood of the Lamb. It is now that we must overcome pride, passion, and spiritual slothfulness. It is now that we must awake and make determined effort for symmetry of character. “Today if ye will hear His voice, harden not your hearts.” We are in a most trying position, waiting, watching for our Lord’s appearing. The world is in darkness. “But ye, brethren,” says Paul, “are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.” It is ever God’s purpose to bring light out of darkness, joy out of sorrow, and rest out of weariness for the waiting, longing soul. {5T 215.4}
What are you doing, brethren, in the great work of preparation? Those who are uniting with the world are receiving the worldly mold and preparing for the mark of the beast. Those who are distrustful of self, who are humbling themselves before God and purifying their souls by obeying the truth—these are receiving the heavenly mold and preparing for the seal of God in their foreheads. When the decree goes forth and the stamp is impressed, their character will remain pure and spotless for eternity. {5T 216.1}
Now is the time to prepare. The seal of God will never be placed upon the forehead of an impure man or woman. It will never be placed upon the forehead of the ambitious, world-loving man or woman. It will never be placed upon the forehead of men or women of false tongues or deceitful hearts. All who receive the seal must be without spot before God—candidates for heaven. Go forward, my brethren and sisters. I can only write briefly upon these points at this time, merely calling your attention to the necessity of preparation. Search the Scriptures for yourselves, that you may understand the fearful solemnity of the present hour. {5T 216.2}

Spirit of Prophecy – “The Law of God”
RH May 6, 1875

May 6, 1875
The Law of God
EGW

The fact that the holy pair in disregarding the prohibition of God in one particular, thus transgressed his law, and as the result suffered the consequences of the fall, should impress all with a just sense of the sacred character of the law of God. If the experience of our first parents in the transgression of what many who profess to fear God would call the lesser requirements of the law of God, was attended with such fearful consequences, what will be the punishment of those who not only break its most important precepts, as clearly defined as is the fourth commandment, but also teach others to transgress? RH May 6, 1875, par. 1

All will yet understand, as did Adam and Eve, that God means what he says. Men who pass on indifferently in regard to the especial claims of God’s holy law, and who turn from and reject the light given upon the Sabbath of the fourth commandment, and seek to ease their consciences by following traditions and customs, will be held responsible by God, and in a greater degree, than if Christ had not come to the earth, and suffered on Calvary. The fact that the redemption of man from the penalty of the transgression, required this wonderful sacrifice on the part of Christ, gives unmistakable proof of the unchanging nature of the law of God. RH May 6, 1875, par. 2

God gave a clear and definite knowledge of his will to Israel by especial precepts, showing the duty of man to God and to his fellow-men. The worship due to God was clearly defined. A special system of rites and ceremonies was established, which would secure the remembrance of God among his people, and thereby serve as a hedge to guard and protect the ten commandments from violation. RH May 6, 1875, par. 3

God’s people, whom he calls his peculiar treasure, were privileged with a two-fold system of law; the moral and the ceremonial. The one, pointing back to creation to keep in remembrance the living God who made the world, whose claims are binding upon all men in every dispensation, and which will exist through all time and eternity. The other, given because of man’s transgression of the moral law, the obedience to which consisted in sacrifices and offerings pointing to the future redemption. Each is clear and distinct from the other. From the creation the moral law was an essential part of God’s divine plan, and was as unchangeable as himself. The ceremonial law was to answer a particular purpose of Christ’s plan for the salvation of the race. The typical system of sacrifices and offerings was established that through these services the sinner might discern the great offering, Christ. But the Jews were so blinded by pride and sin that but few of them could see farther than the death of beasts as an atonement for sin; and when Christ, whom these offerings prefigured, came, they could not discern him. The ceremonial law was glorious; it was the provision made by Jesus Christ in counsel with his Father, to aid in the salvation of the race. The whole arrangement of the typical system was founded on Christ. Adam saw Christ prefigured in the innocent beast suffering the penalty of his transgression of Jehovah’s law. RH May 6, 1875, par. 4

The law of types reached forward to Christ. All hope and faith centered in Christ until type reached its antitype in his death. The statutes and judgments specifying the duty of man to his fellow-men, were full of important instruction, defining and simplifying the principles of the moral law, for the purpose of increasing religious knowledge, and of preserving God’s chosen people distinct and separate from idolatrous nations. RH May 6, 1875, par. 5

The statutes concerning marriage, inheritance, and strict justice in deal with one another, were peculiar and contrary to the customs and manners of other nations, and were designed of God to keep his people separate from other nations. The necessity of this to preserve the people of God from becoming like the nations who had not the love and fear of God, is the same in this corrupt age, when the transgression of God’s law prevails and idolatry exists to a fearful extent. If ancient Israel needed such security, we need it more, to keep us from being utterly confounded with the transgressors of God’s law. The hearts of men are so prone to depart from God that there is a necessity for restraint and discipline. RH May 6, 1875, par. 6

The love that God bore to man whom he had created in his own image, led him to give his Son to die for man’s transgression, and lest the increase of sin should lead him to forget God and the promised redemption, the system of sacrificial offerings was established to typify the perfect offering of the Son of God. RH May 6, 1875, par. 7

Christ was the angel appointed of God to go before Moses in the wilderness, conducting the Israelites in their travels to the land of Canaan. Christ gave Moses his special directions to be given to Israel. “Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; and were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; and did all eat the same spiritual meat; and did all drink the same spiritual drink; for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them; and that Rock was Christ.” RH May 6, 1875, par. 8

In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.” These words were called out by witnessing a representation by the Jews of water flowing from the flinty rock. This commemoration of bringing water from the rock in the wilderness moves the heart of the Son of God to tenderest compassion and pity for their darkened understanding; for they will not see the light which he has brought to them. Christ tells them that he is that rock. I am that living water. Your fathers drank of that spiritual rock that followed them. That rock was myself. It was through Christ alone that the Hebrews were favored with the especial blessings which they were continually receiving, notwithstanding their sinful murmurings and rebellion. RH May 6, 1875, par. 9

In consequence of continual transgression, the moral law was repeated in awful grandeur from Sinai. Christ gave to Moses religious precepts which were to govern the everyday life. These statutes were explicitly given to guard the ten commandments. They were not shadowy types to pass away with the death of Christ. They were to be binding upon man in every age as long as time should last. These commands were enforced by the power of the moral law, and they clearly and definitely explained that law. RH May 6, 1875, par. 10

Christ became sin for the fallen race, in taking upon himself the condemnation resting upon the sinner for his transgression of the law of God. Christ stood at the head of the human family as their representative. He had taken upon himself the sins of the world. In the likeness of sinful flesh he condemned sin in the flesh. He recognized the claims of the Jewish law until his death, when type met antitype. In the miracle he performed for the leper, he bade him go to the priests with an offering in accordance with the law of Moses. Thus he sanctioned the law requiring offerings. RH May 6, 1875, par. 11

Christians who profess to be Bible students can appreciate more fully than ancient Israel did the full signification of the ceremonial ordinances that they were required to observe. If they are indeed Christians, they are prepared to acknowledge the sacredness and importance of the shadowy types, as they see the accomplishment of the events which they represent. The death of Christ gives the Christian a correct knowledge of the system of ceremonies and explains prophecies which still remain obscure to the Jews. Moses of himself framed no law. Christ, the angel whom God had appointed to go before his chosen people, gave to Moses statutes and requirements necessary to a living religion and to govern the people of God. Christians commit a terrible mistake in calling this law severe and arbitrary, and then contrasting it with the gospel and mission of Christ in his ministry on earth, as though he were in opposition to the just precepts which they call the law of Moses. RH May 6, 1875, par. 12

The law of Jehovah, dating back to creation, was comprised in the two great principles, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength. This is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this: Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.” These two great principles embrace the first four commandments, showing the duty of man to God, and the last six, showing the duty of man to his fellow-man. The principles were more explicitly stated to man after the fall, and worded to meet the case of fallen intelligences. This was necessary in consequence of the minds of men being blinded by transgression. RH May 6, 1875, par. 13

God graciously spoke his law and wrote it with his own finger on stone, making a solemn covenant with his people at Sinai. God acknowledged them as his peculiar treasure above all people upon the earth. Christ, who went before Moses in the wilderness, made the principles of morality and religion more clear by particular precepts, specifying the duty of man to God and his fellow-men, for the purpose of protecting life, and guarding the sacred law of God, that it should not be entirely forgotten in the midst of an apostate world. RH May 6, 1875, par. 14

Professed Christians now cry, Christ! Christ is our righteousness, but away with the law. They talk and act as though Christ’s mission to a fallen world was for the express purpose of nullifying his Father’s law. Could not that work have been just as well executed without the only beloved of the Father coming to this world and enduring grief, privation, and the shameful death of the cross? Ministers preach that the atonement gave men liberty to break the law of God, and to commit sin, and then praise the free grace and mercy revealed through Christ under the gospel, while they despise the law of God. RH May 6, 1875, par. 15

They cast aside the restraint of the law, and give loose rein to the corrupt passions and the promptings of the natural heart, and then triumph in the mercy and grace of the gospel. Christ speaks to such: “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of Heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in Heaven.” What is the will of the Father? That we keep his commandments. Christ, to enforce the will of his Father, became the author of the statutes and precepts given through Moses to the people of God. Christians who extol Christ, but array themselves against the law governing the Jewish church, array Christ against Christ. RH May 6, 1875, par. 16

The death of Jesus Christ for the redemption of man, lifts the veil and reflects a flood of light back hundreds of years, upon the whole institution of the Jewish system of religion. Without the death of Christ all this system was meaningless. The Jews reject Christ, and therefore their whole system of religion is to them indefinite, unexplainable, and uncertain. They attach as much importance to shadowy ceremonies of types which have met their antitype, as they do to the law of the ten commandments, which was not a shadow, but a reality as enduring as the throne of Jehovah. The death of Christ elevates the Jewish system of types and ordinances, showing that they were of divine appointment, and for the purpose of keeping faith alive in the hearts of his people. RH May 6, 1875, par. 17

TRUE REPENTANCE/ CONVERSION/ CONVICTION/ PIETY is something we need to meditate often. A good source to reflect on. It is soul touching and a great add on to your site. Good quotes !!

If you want to follow the Lord, you will be delighted to meet with Him a few more times a year. Gods Holy Day’s (feast days) bring you such a blessing. I have a friend that was so impressed and received such a blessing she just cried. Now she goes all the time.

Greetings brethren. Our pioneers dealt with the issue of feast keeping. James White wrote about this. Was he deluded? Why was feast keeping not mentioned in the 1872 statement of beliefs? I am confused as our pioneers were not feast keepers yet it appears that you are promoting feast keeping. Are we not to stand on the truths established in the first 50 years as this is our sure platform. Thanks and blessings Dean

Great question Brother Dean. Yes, we are to stand on our firm foundation of WHAT WAS REVEALED to our pioneers by the Holy Spirit. To begin, it is interesting to note that Paul kept the feasts. John, who laid on the bosom of Christ, kept the feasts and taught Polycarp to keep the feasts and Polycarp would not change his position regarding the 14th of Nisan (Passover) and was burnt at the stake. The Waldensians (120 A.D.) kept the feasts and this is evident in their history and in their Hungarian songbooks; 5 on new moons, 11 on Pasover/ Unleavened Bread, 6 on the Feast of Weeks, 6 on the Tabernacles, 3 on the New Year, 1 on the Atonement, 44 on the Sabbath. The Millerites did not have a complete understanding of the Sabbath until after the disappointment. God had to show them what was “forgotten”. The Israelites had to learn over again about the “forgotten” Sabbath. Not only are there annual feasts, but we also have a weekly feast: the 7th day weekly Sabbath (RH June 1, 1897, par. 6 & Ms21-1897.7). The remaining annual feasts have been “forgotten” as well; noted with the word “remember” in Malachi 4:4 like the 7th day Sabbath in Exodus 20:8. We know that every (more than just the 7th day Sabbath) divine institution will be restored before the end (PK 678.2). We believe the annual feasts have been “forgotten” as well and God has chosen this last generation to restore them along with the 7th day Sabbath, although the latter (true or false 7th day Sabbath) will be the deciding point for mankind in their eternal salvation.

“In every age there is a new development of truth, a message of God to the people of that generation. The old truths are all essential; new truth is not independent of the old, but an unfolding of it. It is only as the old truths are understood that we can comprehend the new.“ COL 127

The Sacrifices (ceremonial) and oblations (ie sin offering) are separate from the feasts. We keep the feasts, but not the sacrifices/ oblations. The latter (our sins/ sacrifices) were nailed to the cross but not the former (see Dan. 9:27). See 1SM 233.1 Please visit PDF “Law of Moses” documents on this page for more quotes from SOP and further study on this subject. It is interesting to note that prophets have to study their own writings, like we have to study. Amazing to read the quotes by Sister White written under inspiration that the Holy Spirit had her pen which reference the feasts. Many prophets in the Bible penned words that was not to be understood for their generation; yet they wrote more for our time at the end of the world than they did for their day; and this would also include Sister White.

How do we keep the feasts? We don’t sacrifice animals or have strange rituals! We come together at camp-meetings (2-3 times per year: Passover, Pentecost & Tabernacles- see PP 540.5,6; RH July 10, 1879, par. 14, 15; 11MR 12.3; RH August 15, 1882, par. 1) to reflect on the plan of salvation of Christ looking back on these feasts (Passover, UL Bread, First Fruits etc.) to see what He has done through the Sanctuary services for our redemption and we also look forward to (ie Tabernacles) the feasts yet to be fulfilled. We also study the 3 angel’s messages, the health message and other pertinent topics (ie country living) related to end-times. It is a time to celebrate (ie foot-washing, testimonies, deep-reflection, hands-on preparation demonstrations, wildcrafting etc.) the goodness of God by fellowshipping/ sharing with like-minded believers the goodness of God with much thanksgiving. In the days of the Israelites, they thanked God for the harvest (food); looking FORWARD to Christ’s sacrifice during their holy convocation gatherings.

The closing words of Malachi are a prophecy regarding the work that should be done preparatory to the first and the second advent of Christ. This prophecy is introduced with the admonition, “Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments.” {SW March 21, 1905, par. 1}

The feasts are statutes (Lev.23:41)

“In these last days there is a call from Heaven inviting you to keep the statutes and ordinances of the Lord. The world has set at naught the law of Jehovah; but God will not be left without a witness to his righteousness, or without a people in the earth to proclaim his truth.” {ST Feb 3, 1888, par. 5}.

Brother Dean, how do we “keep” the 7th day Sabbath (weekly feast)? Originally, there were sacrifices on the Sabbath as well (Numbers 28:9,10; Ezekiel 46:4,5). But, we no longer “keep” the Sabbath with sacrifices. We do the very same when we “keep” the annual feasts. The weekly feast Sabbath calls us to remember and reflect on Christ as our Creator and acknowledge His power. The annual feasts calls us to remember and reflect on Christ as our Redeemer and Hope.

The Shabbat is not the seal of HaShem, nor Sunday the Mark of the Beast. Fairly easy to show from the Holy Scriptures and Holy Hebrew language. The primary application of Daniel 7:25 is the FIXED new world solar calendar, coming in about 4 years or less.
