Habakkuk’s Tables

God showed me the necessity of getting out a chart. I saw it was needed and that the truth made plain upon tables would affect much and would cause souls to come to the knowledge of the truth.”–Letter 26, 1850, p. 1. (To Brother and Sister Loveland, November 1,1850.) {5MR 202.4}

NOTICE SIMPSON’S TAGLINE: HABAKKUK 2:2

The interest that Brother Simpson has aroused is a remarkable one. Many are accepting the truth and are doing all they can to help in the advancement of the truth. Brother Simpson presents the truth just as it was presented in past years. He has a system of charts that is the most perfect thing of its kind that I have ever seen. At his request I had a long conversation with him, and I know that he is sound on every point of our faith and that the power of God is with him. {Lt311-1904.13}

Why the following documents?

The prophet warns us … “We have nothing to fear for the future, except as we shall forget the way the Lord has led us, and His teaching in our past history.” (CET 204.1)

Unfortunately, many of us have forgotten our past history and are in confusion (Babylon) regarding earth’s final events connected with the close of probation, in which the 7th trumpet/3rd woe is soon to break upon the world with great fury.

“The The events connected with the close of probation and the work of preparation for the time of trouble, are clearly brought to view. But multitudes have no more understanding of these important truths than if they had never been revealed. Satan watches to catch away every impression that would make them wise unto salvation, and the time of trouble will find them unready.” (4SP, 1884, p 412.1}

The following documents show what our pioneers unanimously taught regarding last day events; the torch of light that has been handed down to our day. The key to understanding our past pioneer history that brings us to our present standing is clearly revealed on the 1843 and 1850 charts as the prophet Habakkuk declared:

Habakkuk 2:1-4 -[with added emphasis]…’and what shall I answer when I am reproved [argued with – about prophecy]. And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision [visions of Daniel and John], and make [it] plain upon tables, [1843 & 1850 charts] that he may run that readeth it. For the vision [is] yet for an appointed time, but at the end [in the last days] it shall speak, and not lie [the charts are credible!]: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.’

May our heavenly Father open your eyes to see the precious jewels of truth that have been hidden beneath the rubbish of error, glitter forth as the dirt brush man (Jesus), unfolds them in their utmost brilliancy as never seen before. This is our earnest prayer.

The waymarks which have made us what we are, are to be preserved.” (Manuscript Releases, Volume 10, p.45)

The 2520 Time Prophecy Explained in 15 minutes by Mark Robanske

By Darrel and Melinda

As a husband and wife team, it is our desire to spread the gospel message, unadulterated, that was once delivered to the saints (including our early pioneers). It is our desire not to enter into debate over issues or subject matter, but to present the words of truth (as commanded by Habakkuk 2:1-4), allowing for the Holy Spirit to convict each individual accordingly.
Thank you for visiting our webpage and may God's blessings attend your earnest efforts in diligently searching for truth as for hid treasure.

I was interested in the article about Crosier and the True Light on the sanctuary. Thank you for putting that together. I understand that Edson had his vision Oct 23, 1844 and that has been understood within Adventism to be referring to the blotting out of sin and cleansing of records in the heavenly sanctuary. However, I have come to see and believe the Bible supports that God’s people are the sanctuary represented as being cleansed. (Our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit and other verses.) Here are a few points I have put together from various sources on a timeline about how the popular understanding might have come about:

Historical summary: 1844, Oct 23 – Edson had his experience in the cornfield
1844 and early years post disappointment – seems to be no mention of “vision.”
1866-1873 – Edson first writes out his experience
1882 – Hiram Edson died (born 1806)
1892 – Loughborough reports Edson’s narration to him (given in 1852)
1902-3 – letter turned down (for publication?) by the RH
1915 – (death of EGW)
1919 – first mention of the manuscript in the Youth’s Instructor
1921 – letter partially quoted in RH
1937 – came into the hands of L.E. Froom
1951-52 Froom quotes letters in his course in “History of Prophetic Interpretation,” at the SDA Theological Seminar
These letters are quoted in Professor Froom’s Manual for a course in “History of
Prophetic Interpretation,” given at the SDA Theological Seminary in 1951-52

It seems to me a possibility that Froom came up with the common understanding of the cleansing of the sanctuary many decades after 1844 and somehow it became the common understanding when, in reality, the cleansing of the sanctuary is meant to refer to the cleansing of God’s people. I would say their cleansing especially in regards to their concept of God and His character.
Any thoughts?

Thanks for sharing and commenting on my blog Brother Ray. Yes indeed, I agree the cleansing of the sanctuary is the heart cleansing work that the Lord wants us to acquire (His Spirit in us) before we can receive the outpouring of the Latter Rain. Our sanctuary (body temple) must be clean physically, mentally, spiritually to be fit vessels to give the Loud Cry message of the 3rd angel and to be privileged to occupy heaven. My understanding of the mosaic sanctuary services is that they were symbolic of what was transpiring in the heavenly sanctuary, showing us the plan of redemption from start to finish. We know the cleansing (last phase of ministry work) started in the Most Holy Place where Jesus entered on Oct 22, 1844. It seems the heavenly sanctuary is symbolic of heart cleansing for both the Israelites of old as well as for us today. Both parties needed a “heart cleansing” from their sins. One symbolized prior to the cross and carried out through the sacrificial services and the latter after the cross expressed by faith in the atoning sacrifice of Christ. One beautiful aspect of the scriptures that helps us understand and locate God’s time in history is through the Sanctuary “language”. For example, in Rev 8:3 and 9:13 we see first apartment language so we know the sounding of the first 6 trumpets had to come prior to 1844 (and they did) since Jesus was in the holy place which means, trumpets 1-6 CANNOT be after 1844 or placed down into the FUTURE. We see in Rev 11:19, the beginning of the 7th trumpet began in 1844 since we see MHP language here. And thus today, we are in the sounding of the 7th trumpet.
As for Crosier, I am a pioneer girl at heart! If Sister White endorsed a pioneer’s work, I believe her endorsement by faith although I may not understand everything Jesus may or may not be doing in the Sanctuary above. I believe the cleansing is twofold: Christ has a cleansing work to do in the heavenly as we speak which is tied in with working out our salvation with fear and trembling on our part, working with Christ, to cleanse our soul temples from all defilement.

An interesting quote regarding Christ’s mediatorial CLEANSING WORK (blottng out of sin) in the Most Holy Place:
“In the typical system,—which was a shadow of the sacrifice and priesthood of Christ,—the cleansing of the sanctuary was the last service performed by the high priest in the yearly round of ministration. It was the closing work of the atonement,—a removal or putting away of sin from Israel. It prefigured the closing work in the ministration of our High Priest in Heaven, in the removal or blotting out of the sins of his people, which are registered in the heavenly records. This service involves a work of investigation, a work of judgment; and it immediately precedes the coming of Christ in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory; for when he comes, every case has been decided. Says Jesus, “My reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.” [Revelation 22:12.] It is this work of judgment, immediately preceding the second advent, that is announced in the first angel’s message of Revelation 14:7: “Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his Judgment is come.” {GC88 352.2}
