FIRST, QUESTIONS TO CONSIDER

PROPHECY STUDY GUIDE

It has been brought to our attention by several folks that this website is “overwhelming” and folks are not sure where to begin with delving into Bible prophecy. It is our hope that this page will be a help in directing how to trace down the lines of prophecy by utilizing some of the “study aids” on our site. First, I’d like to encourage you not to feel overwhelmed. Many Christians feel overwhelmed when picking up the Bible which contains so much detailed history, that it seems a monumental task to understand even a small percentage of it’s whole. I believe most of us have had this experience, including myself. But, there is good news! What the flock needs now is “present truth”- so, God will show us what is imperative for us today. God promises to those who are true in heart as little children, seeking truth with a humble and contrite spirit, that He will open the “storehouse” of truth to your understanding. So please be encouraged and jump in with a good measure of faith and you won’t go wrong.

If you are new to Bible Prophecy, first watch the following documentary, “Light Unshackled” that covers history from the fall of Jerusalem in 70 A.D. to 1620. Please note this documentary also covers the history of the Turk’s (Islam) conquering of Constantinople in 1453 (Rev. Ch 9) which provided protection for God’s people from papal persecution for a period of time which gave rise for the development of the Protestant reformation. Please keep this history of the Turks (Islam) in mind as it connects (when following the line of propehcy) to a future event (Dan 11:45), soon to transpire in these last days. Radical Islam plays an important role in the closing scenes of this world’s history.

Please note: the following video BELOW is PART ONE COVERING THE HISTORY OF THE PROTESTANT REFORMATION. PART TWO IS in proCess of being produced and will cover from 1620 to our day. So, be sure to check back.

Interpretation is a very important concept in proper Bible study as it will keep us on the straight and narrow path, allowing the Bible to be its own expositor. First, before beginning Bible study, please consider the following Bible Rules of Interpretation:

Make sure you have your Bible handy as you will be looking up texts. BEGIN BY PRINITNG OUT THE FOLLOWING 2 “STUDY AIDS” as these will be used for outline references. Print the “Prominent Lines of Prophetic History” on legal sized paper (8 1/2 x 14):

PRINT THE FOLLOWING CHARTS OR HAVE THEM OPENED IN A PDF FOR REFERENCE:

1) Look over the following Visual Introduction to the 1843 & 1850 Charts for overview of both charts.

2) Read the following 1850 Chart Explanation with the 1850 Chart above for a general, brief outline of history depicted on the chart.

3) We will begin with the 1843 chart. Please have that open and available for view. We will use the “Prominent Lines of Prophetic History” (hereafter referred to PLH) and the “Prophecy Timeline 742 BC- 1844 AD” (hereafter referred to PTL) above as a general guideline. Please have these printed out for reference.

4) We will begin looking at the PLH and follow the lines of history along with the 1843 chart and the brief description outline from the PTL. On the upper left-hand-corner of the PLH we will first notice the year 723 B.C. Go to the PTL and notice (on page 1) the corresponding date of 723 B.C. where a brief description is given about King Hoshea taken captive by the King of Assyria.

5) The next date we come to on the PTL is 677 B.C. After reading this brief outline, go to the 1843 Chart and you will notice at the top center the year 677 B.C. depicting the year that Manasseh was taken captive by the King of Assyria which began the 2520 years of captivity for the southern tribe, Judah. Please also look up the corresponding Bible texts provided on the chart as you go along.

6) Continue reading the PTL until you come to the date 606 B.C. (page 1) and you will see this date depicted again (to the right of 723) on the PLH that shows the year of Nebuchadnezzar’s invasion of Jerusalem.

7) The next date you come to on the PLH is 538 B.C. when Medo-Persia conquered Babylon. This date is the next date shown on the 1843 chart (under 677) and a brief explanation is given in the PTL.

8) The next date on the 1843 chart (below 538) is 457 B.C. We know this is the going forth of the decree of Ezra that begins the 2300 year prophecy. You can read the brief description on the PTL (page 2) and see this date on the bottom section of the PLH.

9) Continue looking for the next date, either on the chart, the PLH or PTL and continue vacillating back and forth, the same as above, for a brief overview and tracing down of the prophetic lines of history.

10) Next will be given an example of the trumpets. Beginning with the PLH, in the mid-center you will see the “7 Trumpets” time line. For more detailed dates on the trumpet timeline, open the following document: Diagram of the Seven Trumpets. You will see these dates on the timeline, depicted on the 1843 chart (lower right-hand corner) and the dates (more precise) on the right-hand-side of the 1850 chart. Please observe the charts closely. And of course, you can read a brief outline about this history throughout the PTL; just look for the corresponding dates. Notice on the charts and PTL and PLH, there are Biblical references as well to this history.

A few pictorial glimpses into detailed history (1299 AD -1840 AD) of the Saracen Turks (Arab/ Islamic peoples) of Revelation Chapter 9 under the 5th trumpet/1st woe and 6th trumpet/ 2nd woe:

11) So, for a deeper study of this history (trumpets) or any other history on the charts, you would go to the corresponding Biblical text. In this example with the trumpets, you would go to Revelation, Chapter 9 (as referenced on the 1843 chart) by hovering over the “prophecy” menu (on this website), click on “Revelation” from the dropdown menu. Scroll down to and open the Revelation Chapter 9 PDF and you can follow this history verse by verse as taught by our pioneers! Please be sure to view the videos provided under each chapter as this will be a huge help in understanding this FORGOTTEN history. You would follow these same principles and outline for studying Daniel‘s prophecies.
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THE BOOKS OF DANIEL AND REVELATION MUST BE STUDIED TOGETHER FOR UNDERSTADNING OF PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE PROPHECY.

12) When you come to the study of the 7 churches or the 7 seals on the PLH, these also can be found on the PTL by their corresponding dates. Please use these following timelines for more date detail on the churches and seals: Seven Seals and Seven Churches

All these truths are immortalized in my writings. The Lord never denies His Word. Men may get up scheme after scheme, and the enemy will seek to seduce souls from the truth, but all who believe that the Lord has spoken through Sister White, and has given her a message, will be safe from the many delusions that will come in in these last days.

13) We highly recommend following the counsel from the Spirit of Prophecy by reading the book she has DISTINCTLY endorsed: “Daniel and the Revelation” by Uriah Smith. You will (a promise from God) have a greater understanding of these prophecies of the books of Daniel and Revelation if you follow her (really, God’s) counsel. PLEASE READ SISTER WHITE’S ENDOSEMENT ON HIS BOOK BELOW. PLEASE BE SURE TO USE THE 1897 OR EARLIER EDITION AS THE LATER EDITIONS HAVE HAD OVER 10,000 CHANGES AFTER URIAH SMITH PASSED AWAY. SO, HE IS NOT THE AUTHOR OF THE NEWER EDITIONS. One last note, when reading Uriah Smith’s book, print out the chapter notes from the Daniel and Revelation menu and use these as notes to follow along verse by verse and to add additional notes that you find helpful. Place these in a notebook for quick and easy reference. This is very helpful since we can’t remember everything, so it is a great way to refresh one’s memory as to what our pioneers taught on a particular passage. This also helps us from being easily lead astray by the many “winds of doctrine” blowing today and keeps us on the straight and narrow path.

The Testimony of Pioneer Workers.–I have had presentations regarding the deceptions that Satan is bringing in at this time. I have been instructed that we should make prominent the testimony of some of the old workers who are now dead. Let them continue to speak through their articles as found in the early numbers of our papers. These articles should now be reprinted, that there may be a living voice from the Lord’s witnesses. The history of the early experiences in the message will be a power to withstand the masterly ingenuity of Satan’s deceptions. This instruction has been repeated recently. I must present before the people the testimonies of Bible truth, and repeat the decided messages given years ago. I desire that my sermons given at camp meetings and in churches may live and do their appointed work.

The following is a recommended pioneer reading list to help aid in understanding prophecy-

1) 1884 Great Controversy: SOP, Vol 4 by Ellen White

2) The Story of Daniel the Prophet by Stephen N. Haskell

3) The Story of the Seer of Patmos by Stephen N. Haskell

In every age there is a new development of truth, a message of God to the people of that generation. The old truths are all essential; new truth is not independent of the old, but an unfolding of it. It is only as the old truths are understood that we can comprehend the new. When Christ desired to open to His disciples the truth of His resurrection, He began “at Moses and all the prophets” and “expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning Himself.” Luke 24:27. But it is the light which shines in the fresh unfolding of truth that glorifies the old. He who rejects or neglects the new does not really possess the old. For him it loses its vital power and becomes but a lifeless form.

The following books below are recommended reading AFTER you have a basic knowledge of our pioneer history as outlined above. Remember, the past unfolds the future and without understanding our past history, you will not comprehend the future.

Also, the following books are helpful in understanding Daniel 11:45 (last prophecy to be fulfilled, not based on prophetic time but based on an event); the Eastern Question of the past (as depicted on the 1843 & 1850 charts under “Mohometans”) which ties in with the three angel’s messages (esp. the 3rd angel’s WARNING message) in the near future: the event (destruction & take over of Jerusalem by Islam [Turkey]) that lets us know the nearness of the close of probation for the entire world (of Christ’s finishing work of the atonement [the judgment/ 2520- 3rd angel] in the Most Holy Place in the heavenly sanctuary above) and events following the COP: the 7 last plagues, the time of trial/ trouble for the saints, the destruction of Islam under the 6th plague, and our final deliverance and destruction of the Papacy at the 2nd Coming!

Please note what our Pioneer, Stephen Haskell had to say about this history in reference to the fulfillment of Daniel 11:45….

“Every eye is centered on that one spot, and has been for years. Turkey is known universally as the “sick man of the east…the time will come when he will remove from Constantinople, and take up his abode in Palestine; that is, plant his tabernacle between the Mediterranean and Red Seas. Time and again the world has been brought to realize that the end of all things is near at hand, for all know that when the Turk steps out of Constantinople, there will be a general breaking up of Europe. They may not name this impending conflict the battle of Armageddon, but God has so named it.”{1901 SNH, SDP 247.3}
“I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth. . . . And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God; and he cried . . . Saying, hurt not the earth . . . Till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.” these angels now hold the winds of strife, waiting for the church of God to prepare for his coming. The sealing angel goes through Jerusalem (the church) to place the seal of the living God on the foreheads of the faithful, and while this work goes forward, Turkey stands as a national guidepost to the world, that men may know what is going on in the sanctuary above. {1901 SNH, SDP 248.1}
God’s eye is upon his people, and he never leaves himself without a witness in the world. No man knows when Turkey will take its departure from europe, but when that move is made, earth’s history will be short.  Then it will be said, “he that is unjust let him be unjust still, . . . And he that is righteous let him be righteous still.” to-day is “the day of preparation…while the world watches Turkey, let the servant of God watch the movements of his great high priest, whose ministry for sin is almost over.”

Please be sure and visit our Habakkuk’s Ch 2:1-4 Tables/ Charts menu to see the unanimity on prophecy which our pioneers taught from the 1843 and 1850 Charts (please read through the PDF documents, located about half way down the page, that reveal this fact). These charts are a fulfillment of the command given to Habakkuk in Habakkuk 2:1-4. These prophecies are vitally important to our understanding of the past, present, and future; laying out the path so plainly that none need err therein.

After completing the above, (becoming familiar with the language of Revelation Chapter 9), please visit the Prophecy dropdown menu of the books of Ezekiel 32/ Psalms 83 and Joel utilizing the information on these pages give more detail of future events regarding Islam, the 7 last plagues and the deliverance of God’s people. On these pages, there is a verse by verse outline of these books of the Bible, as well as recommended reading for a broader understanding of future events.

And finally AND MOST IMPORTANT, on the Prophecy dropdown menu, there is the book of Mark, Chapter 13 referencing the last parable (fig tree) that Christ gave, bringing us to the end of all things. The language in the Bible regarding Islam ties in with the language of this parable and is quite an eye-opener! Please utilize the studies there on this page as well. We are still studying to fully understand this part of the fig tree parable, but, the beginning of understanding can ONLY be understood IF you understand the language of Revelation, Chapter 9 as it employs the SAME language (proof texting at its finest!). You will have already covered Revelation Chapter 9 if you followed the outline given above on this page.

We hope and pray that this page outline will have been a helpful introductory tool in understanding how to use this website’s “Prophecy” menu and “study aids” in getting started in the study of our past pioneer history. By understanding the past, this will unfold your understanding of the future.

Those who are engaged in proclaiming the third angel’s message are searching the Scriptures upon the same plan that Father Miller adopted. In the little book entitled Views of the Prophecies and Prophetic Chronology, Father Miller gives the following simple but intelligent and important rules for Bible study and interpretation:
‘1. Every word must have its proper bearing on the subject presented in the Bible;
2. All Scripture is necessary, and may be understood by diligent application and study;
3. Nothing revealed in Scripture can or will be hid from those who ask in faith, not wavering;
4. To understand doctrine, bring all the scriptures together on the subject you wish to know, then let every word have its proper influence; and if you can form your theory without a contradiction, you cannot be in error;
5. Scripture must be its own expositor, since it is a rule of itself. If I depend on a teacher to expound to me, and he should guess at its meaning, or desire to have it so on account of his sectarian creed, or to be thought wise, then his guessing, desire, creed, or wisdom is my rule, and not the Bible.’
The above is a portion of these rules; and in our study of the Bible we shall all do well to heed the principles set forth.

Miller Himes Chart

Of the people in his day Christ said: “For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.” The Jews willfully closed their eyes and their ears, and barred their hearts with prejudice, lest they should see a better way, and be aroused from their dream of security. The people of the present generation are pursuing a similar course. New truths are constantly unfolding; and clearer light is shining upon the pathway of God’s people. But the great mass of mankind are satisfied with their present condition, and are unwilling to exchange error for truth. But we are to be sanctified through obedience to the truth. For want of this Bible sanctification, the soul of many a professed Christian has become a desecrated shrine, the haunt of hollow formalism, of selfishness and hypocrisy, pride and passion.

“These words spake Jesus, and lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son may glorify thee; as thou hast given Him power over all flesh, that should give eternal life to as many as Thou hast given Him. As I saw what we must be to inherit glory, and then saw how much Jesus had suffered for us to obtain for us so rich an inheritance, I prayed that we might be baptized into Christ’s sufferings, that we might not shrink at trials, but bear them with patience and joy, knowing what Jesus had suffered, that we might through his poverty and sufferings be made rich. Said the angel, “Deny self, ye must step fast.” I saw that some of us have had time to get the truth, and to advance step by step, and every step we have taken has given us strength to take the next. But now time is almost finished, and what we have been years learning, they will have to learn in a few months. And they will have to unlearn much, and learn again. And those who will not receive the mark of the beast and his image, when the decree goes forth, must have decision now to say, nay, we will not regard the institution of the beast.
